Our text for Sunday, September 13 describes one of the most powerful visions in all of Scripture, a scene that is life-changing and eternity-altering. It is the first vision of Christ in the book of Revelation–a vision of the unveiled Christ in all of his glory.
Worship Preparation: September 13 Rev. 1:9-20 “The Vision of Jesus Christ.” For Sunday September 13, read Revelation 1:9-20. What is the most startling part of John’s vision of Jesus in the passage? Why do you think John was afraid? What can you learn about Jesus and his churches from this vision?
Here is what I’m praying for worship on September 13:
- Pray for brothers and sisters facing tribulation and difficulty to have strength to endure. We have a significant number of church members going through difficult seasons. Revelation encourages believers to endure.
- Pray especially for persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ across the globe. You can find prayer resources for the persecuted church here at www.persecution.com Persecution did not go away in the first century.
- Pray that we will see with understanding the vision of Christ in his glory in the midst of his churches. Seeing Jesus truly is life-changing. Pray that gathered worshipers will see Jesus truly.
- Pray for unbelievers who gather with us this weekend to see and receive Christ as Lord. Each week we have children, teens, and adults gather with us who are not believers. Pray that they will see and experience Christ and never be the same.
- Pray for believers to embrace their responsibility to obey Christ. When we meet and experience Jesus, he never leaves us the same. He sends us out with a responsibility and an assignment. Pray that we will obey and go with the gospel of Christ to our neighbors and the nations.
